Lake Bastrop Fishing Report - August 2010

Lake Bastrop is one of the classic structured fishing lakes. Well defined main creek channels along with humps and drop offs that provide good structure. Anglers are advised to use electronics to locate these main features. Very large stands of submerged vegetation provide good cover. A very limited amount of standing timber is available in the back of some of the coves. Because Bastrop is a power-plant cooling reservoir, the water temperatures are somewhat warmer than those found on other lakes, which keeps bass more active during the winter and early spring months. The water can become extremely hot during the summer months, which may have a negative effect on your fishing success.

Lake Bastrop fishing is more active during the fall, winter and spring months due to the cooler weather. Fish are active much longer during daylight hours on Lake Bastrop and are normally found in shallow water fishing early morning and late afternoon on Lake Bastrop.
According to the latest Lake Bastrop fishing update, for active fish, spinner baits and crank baits are most fisherman's choice.
